After some of the top London shows I was a bit afraid that every fashion week would be showing beautiful dresses paired with bare legs and shoulders. Where were the warm comfy layers? I mean, it is supposed to be for FALL 2009 after all.
Luckily, Paris and Milan seemed to take a more practical route. But I must say I was quite surprised to see so many blankets and gigantic shawls all over the runways. What is the inspiration behind this collective move towards wrapping and cocooning the body in blankets? Is it the thought of a possibly long and cold recession? Maybe some designers have thumbed their noses at global warming and are preparing for the next ice age? Hmm...

The Missoni looks are gorgeous. I love the long flowing layers, so cozy.
This is so ridiculous. I love how many of those looks actually do look like sleeping bags. Why, designers, why?
well I mean everything on the runway is never meant to be worn with that much else going on, CDG looks like they have some layers making it look bulkier then it actually is, my favourite is Missoni, cowl necks are so practical! Also, Loewe looks the most wearable.
That reminds me of this article :)

Haha -- it seems like everytime I comment is with a link to an article elsewhere!
Blankets are definitely rad. I'm gonna try to find a way to attempt to try to find one i can use for some Missoni inspired layering
