Gap Fall 2009

photos via style.com

Funnily enough, Patrick Robinson's new direction for the Gap has really caught my eye. It looks very campus-friendly, a great mix of American sportswear, Navajo knits and some very covetable pieces such as shearling vests and jackets. They finally managed to style their classic chinos into relevance once again, transforming the shape into a skinnier stovepipe and pairing them with sheepskin Pierre Hardy boots. Which made me pause. Pierre Hardy boots? Will these shoes be available at the Gap? Does anyone know? I love the chunky heel. Yep, I can definitely see myself trotting around campus next winter in similar outfits. I can't believe I'm craving chinos. I guess that's what good styling can do for you.

But will I buy them from the Gap? Nah, I'll probably end up thrifting a pair and adjusting them myself. But the shearling jackets and boots on the other hand, hmm...

Yeah, I definitely like this collection more than Gap's last fall collection. I like the color scheme and it seems relatively thrift-able.

I love the first set, especially the one on the far right. I need to get myself a good parka.

Gap is really going to make a comeback I think! I hope so! I remember going there from a young age and getting pieces that never ever wore out! Here's hoping. Gap is really expensive in Japan as are Zara and H & M. Top Shop actually isn't bad. I am working teaching English. I have been here for four months and am hoping to get more into the fashion scene here. I don't have a lot of spare time but I am definitely making the most of it! Good luck with your work this summer. Keep in touch and keep the great blogging up! Just remember when it's all over you will be so thrilled and you will have a degree under your belt that is a ticket to do anything you want!!

Love the last two outfits in the bottom row! The purple skirt looks like a must have.

I must admit I am impressed. I've never bought anything from the GAP before as it's too preppy, plain and boring for my style. However, they really seem to have turned a page here - this almost makes me look forward to Fall.

Almost.

Some of my friends work at the gap... the Robson store sometimes carry a limited amount of Pierre hardy shoes, but easily get sold out! You can always phone though and ask if they will get them, usually they can tell a few weeks early.

1-2 years ago robson store even had the "european collection", limited philip lim, etc. and had them on sale! It was too late when I found out :( hopefully, they will carry nicer stuff again this year.

Hi,
I just saw you said on tFS that you were a photographer of a photo. Didn't know it, I took the photo from a Ebay listing so someone loaned it from your blog then obviously :-) Asked an admin to remove the post as I can't modify it anymore, hopefully it's ok. I credited this same photo on my blog with a link to your blog, let me know if I should remove it. This has been the only photo I've found of these shoes, were in a listing on ebay.co.uk a while ago :-) (sadly the shoes were size 36, otherwise they would be mine now, haha)

I love the collection, and I thought that they had a good one last all as well. But I just feel as though these collections never actually transcribe into the stores. The likelihood of seeing some of this stuff in the stores, in my opinion, is slim to none. And that's really what I feel as Gap's downfall still. Everything in the store is still really Gap, it's none of this great stuff that is really fashion forward. And forget about their online store (It's terrible!) Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised this upcoming fall, as I would like to buy a lot of pieces from this collection.

Love your blog! Check out mine:
