Reality Check

Ok, we all know there is nothing realistic about reality TV. But this sort of takes the cake for me. I just couldn't believe the outcome of episode 6 of The Fashion Show. Couldn't believe it! Can you guess which of the above outfits was the winner? The overwrought pink monstrosity or the sleek reinterpretation of athletic wear? Well, obviously I'm ranting because the former won best design of the week. Apparently 83% of the audience (supposedly filled with industry types) said they would buy that outfit, as opposed to the 90% that claimed they wouldn't buy Johnny's, which put his creation in the bottom two. Doesn't anyone else think that Johnny's outfit is a perfectly on-trend right now? I mean, fringed biker leggings? Yes! I think Susie Bubble and Queen Michelle would certainly agree. I can definitely see this outfit selling out at a place like Topshop. And then I remember briefly seeing designer Yigal Azrouël (love!) make a discreet appearance in one episode, I think it was the previous one. At the time I thought maybe the show had a bit of potential, since it managed to attract a guest appearance buy a designer that's very current. But now... Well at least I'll still be watching it to see what Johnny and James-Paul come up with next!

That outfit with the pink is ghastly! Low rise jeans with hipster belt? At least three shades of fucshia? Clown collar? Please, I would love to see 83% of the audience show up to the next taping wearing that. The other one is really good - simple lines, good details, good styling. These shows are crazy!

So much for reality tv, everything is staged but must it be this obvious. I've never seen the show and have no desire to. BTW, cute blog!
xo!

there are so many things that I have problems with in that show. and I think the level of talent is nowhere near Project Runway. I guess i'm too loyal.

Hello there, nice to have you back!
At a glance I would have said Jonny for sure, and not knowing the show from a bar of soap it just looks better.
Reality TV never ceases to amaze.

You are so right !
The thing is Merlin has been designing monstruosities since the beginning of the show and somehow he always gets away with it !

Now, to win a challenge with this flamingo regurgitation ...
WTF !

i haven't seen much but one episode or so, but looking at these pictures, while the black/white is probably very fashion-forward, it doesn't look like it would be flattering on anyone, while the other outfit has some sex appeal and interesting detailing... i think the one that won is more marketable, even if it's not that trendy.

i loved johnny's outfit. is it just me or is kelly rowland kind of annoying. I literally gagged when she declared that her qualification as a judge on the first episode was "sitting front row at many amazing fashion shows".
